Bawah Reserve

The highly anticipated eco-resort Bawah Reserve, is now open, offering a super-luxe getaway amidst stunning natural surrounds.

Accommodating a maximum of 70 guests at any one time, and featuring 35 standalone suites and over-the-water bungalows, this intimate, sustainably-focused retreat has been designed with the preservation of the island’s natural beauty front of mind.

Entirely hand-built (no heavy machinery is allowed on the island) from sustainable bamboo and other recycled materials such as driftwood and copper, Bawah Reserve is the first island group in Indonesia to be powered by a renewable microgrid – even water is sourced on the island and recycled as drinking water.

Situated at the southern end of Indonesia’s Anambas Archipelago, 300 kilometres north-east of Singapore, Bawah Reserve and its six previously uninhabited, forest-clad islands and 13 secluded white-sand beaches, are accessible exclusively via the resort’s own seaplane.

Epitomising the concept of ‘all-inclusive luxury’, Bawah Reserve includes spa treatments in the price of booking with its Aura Spa & Wellness Centre offering an extensive menu of traditional therapies and holistic wellness treatments.

Meanwhile, the Bawah Anambas Foundation channels funds back into the local community and marine and forest conservation efforts, with the main goal of improving the overall ecosystem in the Anambas.

“Travellers are looking for experiences that are meaningful because they are deeply-rooted in preserving local culture, customs and habitats, and because they don’t have a negative impact on the planet,” World Resorts of Distinction executive director Tess Willcox says.

“Bawah Reserve offers all of this and more – its obviously an iconic romantic or honeymoon destination, but it also caters to outdoor adventurers as well as paradise seekers with an appetite for indulgence.”
