The cruise lines ups the ante with its latest culinary offerings on board Celebrity Solstice set to excite tastebuds during the cruise season down under
As gastronomy continues to play a crucial role in travellers’ experiences, Celebrity Cruises has upped the ante with its latest culinary offerings set to excite tastebuds during the international cruise season down under.
Returning for her sixth local season, Celebrity Solstice is offering an incredible variety of culinary experiences for food and wine lovers, specially crafted with unique, local Australian produce by the ship’s 162 chefs.
Aussie and Kiwi guests, who have especially discerning palettes and preference for quality food, wine and coffee, will be well catered to with increased quantities of locally-sourced meats, fish, eggs, wine and excellent coffees.
“Our Aussie and Kiwi guests tell us they rate their holiday food experience as importantly as the weather and accommodation choice. What’s more, our experience shows they are particularly adventurous foodies – but also more health conscious than other parts of the world, Celebrity Cruises food and beverage director Mark Tomley says.
“We pride ourselves on creating culinary experiences that bring the destinations we visit to life, and our chefs work hard to source unique local ingredients for special dishes throughout each cruise.”
Celebrity Cruises guests can have a variety of immersive culinary experiences, including the incredibly popular ‘A Taste of Film’ event on board Celebrity Solstice, where they are treated to one-of-a-kind, multi-sensory outdoor cinematic and gastronomic experience on the ship’s Lawn Club. As they watch a movie screening, guests are presented with dishes that match those on screen.
For the 2017 Australian cruising season, commencing 9 December, guests can also look forward to new offerings such as Sushi on Five, featuring an expertly crafted menu curated by sushi chef Yoshikazu “Yoshi” Okada, and a reinvigorated Aquaspa menu.
Meanwhile, on board Celebrity Solstice, Michelin-starred chef Cornelius Gallagher is at the helm of an expert team of international chefs, who will be dishing up a range of dynamic menus, inspired by the local flavours of the destinations the ships visit, and created with locally sourced produce. The chefs will also share their knowledge and expertise with guests through the ‘Celebrity’s Chef’s Market Discoveries’. This interactive experience leads guests through local markets, before they head back on board for a private dinner made with ingredients found that day.
“Foodie travellers want to know the stories behind the food and wine in the places they’re travelling and the culinary offerings on Celebrity Cruises tap into this concept, making the pleasure of eating an in-depth and satisfying experience,” award-winning TV presenter and food and wine authority, Lyndey Milan says. Lyndey has also hosted three Celebrity cruises in Europe.
Finally, wine lovers will also be well taken care of, with the cruise line boasting not only the largest wine selection at sea, but also the most awarded. Celebrity’s main dining room wine lists offer more than 300 prestigious labels from all over the world, while a team of expert Sommeliers is on hand to suggest the perfect pairings. Don’t forget to check out the stunning two-storey wine tower, created from glass and steel by renowned designer Adam Tihany, which houses 1,850 bottles of wine at the perfect serving temperature.
