The Farmhouse at Blue Wren, Mudgee, NSW

REVIEW

Modern, sleek and sophisticated is not something you’d expect to find inside a typical farmhouse. But then again, this isn’t your typical farmhouse either.

Sitting pretty on a stunning 65-acre property, this beautifully renovated homestead is a clever new addition to Blue Wren – a vineyard, winery and cellar door, events centre, and restaurant, a short drive from Mudgee’s town centre.

With five bedrooms, large, fully-equipped kitchen, open-plan dining and living space, and a boardroom, the one-level villa is suitable for corporate groups, friends, or couples, and can be entirely booked out, or per individual room.

Bedrooms feature very comfortable king-sized beds, which can be separated into twin-shares, with plush, luxury bedding, flat screen TVs including Apple TV with an extensive range of movies, and luxury bathroom amenities.

There are three bathrooms, including an en-suite for the master bedroom, and one with a Jacuzzi, ideal for a bubbly soak at the end of a day spent vineyard-hopping.

The interior décor is minimalist, with the communal living area featuring modern black furniture and a sleek silver floor lamp, while the palette of grey, white, and black works well in contrast to the polished wood floors and high ceilings.

The whole space is light, open, and airy with the lounge doors opening up onto a sprawling back deck, which looks across a meadow towards rolling hills.

There is also a second sunken deck beside it with a swimming pool. The front deck enjoys views of the vineyard and wraps around the side of the house, with seats placed strategically for prime sunset viewing.

The Farmhouse at Blue Wren offers a unique and memorable country stay, which is truly taken to the next level with the vineyard’s boutique wines and unbeatable fine-dining at the Restaurant – read our review in Global Dining on why this experience is an absolute must-do.
