Red Rocks rocks Colorado

Only in Colorado could you discover a 122-metre natural amphitheatre set amid a national park and the beautiful, haunted chants of the Ute Nation, who once inhabited the High Plains. Beyond its ochre, sandstone walls and rich cultural history is a captivating experience – none more so than a Red Rocks concert.

Recently designated as a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service, Red Rocks has seen some of the world’s leading rock artists play live in its 9,000-seat theatre – from the Beatles, Neil Young and U2, to the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix.

But if you prefer to embrace the natural setting, you can hike, go on horseback or mountain bike along the many park trails. You can even do a yoga class at sunrise or view a cult-classic film on a colossal cinematic screen.

Other noteworthy pit stops you should consider are at the Trading Post and Ship Rock Grill, where you can grab a seat on the edge of a mountainous panorama and taste some of Colorado’s buffalo tamales smothered in hot, green chilli.
