The National Film and Sound Archive and National Portrait Gallery have created a major travelling exhibition documenting the making and marketing of Australian films.

Starstruck draws on the NFSA’s collection of portraits relating to Australian feature films from the early 20th century to today. Starstruck: Australian Movie Portraits explores the beautiful portraiture emerging from 100 years of Australian movies.

The exhibition will feature imagery of beloved Australian actors and iconic films, from classics such as Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Dressmaker, My Brilliant Career and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, as well as original costumes, rare film posters, and stunning 1930s’ scrapbooks of aspiring actors.

There will also be a smaller self-install exhibition for regional and remote communities, called Starstruck: On Location. Starstruck: Australian Movie Portraits will launch on 10 November, 2017 at the National Portrait Gallery and will run until 4 March, 2018.
