The Anam launches Vietnamese art tours
The resort has launched intimate art tours into the galleries and homes of talented local artists
Seven months after opening,The Anam in Cam Ranh, Vietnam has launched intimate art tours into the galleries and homes of talented local artists.
The resort’s commitment to local art is clear in its design, with an eclectic collection of hundreds of artworks by local artists hanging from its walls.
“Our part of Vietnam is famous for its beaches, its islands, its Cham towers and its seafood, but it should also be famous for its art, and we hope to help make that happen,” The Anam general manager Herbert Laubichler-Pichler says.
Driven by his interest in knowing local artists personally, Laubichler-Pichler began the Nha Trang Art Tour with help from Nguyễn Hồng Vân, who opened Nha Trang’s first art gallery called The Rainbow Gallery.
As part of this seven-hour tour, art lovers venture into the homes of acclaimed local artists otherwise inaccessible to tourists, with dinner at a local Vietnamese restaurant concluding the tour.
This provides a new perspective of Vietnamese art through oil paintings, metalwork, sculpture and photography.
One of the tour’s artists, Mai Lộc, epitomises Vietnam’s rapid transformation through his striking black-and-white and colour images of Vietnam’s landscape and its people in other parts of the world like Canada.
Painter Bùi Văn Quang is also on tour, showcasing authentic paintings with rich colours depicting the daily lives of the Vietnamese.
Other artists involved include painters Trần Thị Bảo Trân and her husband Lưu Thành Quả, Nguyễn Hữu Bài, Ngô Đăng Hiệp and Lê Huỳnh, metalwork artist Bùi Trung Chính and sculptor Đoàn Xuân Hùng.
From December 26-29 this year, the 213-room resort resort will stage its first ‘Garden and Sun Artist in Residence’ where artists create works and talk with guests in the resort’s lush gardens, with complimentary drinks.
The Nha Trang Art Tour operates daily from 1:30pm from The Anam, and includes transfers, visits to studios and homes with a guide, as well as dinner.
