Five-star sanctuary
The brand-spanking new Pullman Tokyo Tamachi is not only the first Pullman to open in Japan but the AccorHotel Group’s 1000th hotel in Asia Pacific, and it is a genuine stunner.  The plush hotel, like Tokyo itself, combines the modern with the traditional. And, from the moment we enter its bold Japanese kabuki-inspired lobby, we’re swept into a sanctuary of five-star luxury.

Prime location
Located just two minutes by covered walkway from Tamachi Station and MSB Tamachi – a 30-storey shopping, dining and office complex in one of Tokyo’s up-and-coming business districts – the 143-room hotel offers quick access from Haneda Airport. Its convenient location also makes it easy to navigate to popular tourist areas, such as Ginza, Shibuya, Shinjuku and Harajuku, via the Yamanote Line.

Quirky touches
Thoughtfully designed spaces feature throughout the hotel, which has an indoor/outdoor rooftop bar area and a spacious lounge and work space in the lobby. There are also plenty of quirky touches of the kind Tokyo is famous for: a collection of modern artworks splash their way across walls and ceilings, and an open-air rooftop garden allows you to listen and watch as the Shinkansen train snakes its way along the railway tracks below.

For the sake of it …
We loved the enormous timber ping pong table in a quiet corner of the lobby, adjacent to the Junction Bar. Note: sake and ping pong don’t necessarily make for a winning combo … but another cup of sake proves a more than adequate consolation prize.

Stylish suites
The 100 per cent non-smoking hotel has 143 contemporary guest rooms, including connecting and family rooms. Our beautifully appointed Deluxe Room is very spacious by Tokyo standards. It features incredible artworks, a stylish lounge area, jaw-dropping bathroom with free-standing tub, rain shower and a toilet that could launch a space shuttle. All rooms at the hotel also feature the Pullman signature beds, illy coffee machines, Bose wireless speakers and C.O. Bigelow amenities.

Steak your claim at KASA
Dining is superb from breakfast to dinner with a meal at laidback and lovely KASA a highlight. Yuzu-cured Mt Fuji trout with nori powder, teppan-grilled snapper with edamame salad and beautifully marbled Japanese beef ribs are among the sigh-inducing highlights on the menu.

Platform 9 a welcome departure

Executive chef Thomas Thomas cleverly fuses Mediterranean-style cooking with local ingredients and flavours. For more casual dining, the Platform 9 rooftop bar serves Japanese-style tapas, which can be enjoyed along with a menu of sublime cocktails and sweeping views of the Tokyo skyline.

A night at the new Pullman Tokyo Tamachi proves the hotel to be a classy standout, offering guests all the convenience of the Tokyo CBD with a serve of local life, and a level of hospitality that goes above and beyond.
